sickoSicko (or SiCKO) is a two-hour documentary film by American director Michael Moore, first screened on May 19, 2007 at the Cannes Festival1 (out of competition) for journalists. His theatrical release took place on June 22, 2007 in the United States, on October 10, 2007 in Belgium and on September 5, 2007 in France. The main subject of this work is the comparison of the health system (important part of what social security) of the United States, Canada, Great Britain, France and Cuba. This documentary wants to point out that the American health care system is very inhuman compared to so many other countries, since it has almost systematic links with private services and insurance companies.

In this documentary, rescuers of September 11, 2001 attacks in the rubble of the World Trade Center are presented. Sick because of the different compounds in suspension that they inhaled soon after the attacks or psychological traumas that they underwent, they have financial difficulties to obtain affordable care. Their difficulties are paralleled by the quality care provided to the Guantánamo prisoners, who are considered by the US government as dangerous terrorists.
